The Apostles Made Mistakes

An additional line of reasoning by the Watchtower Society to justify their errors (and which it's members have learned to parrot) is to make a comparison to the Apostles and the mistakes that they made.
Reasoning from the Scriptures p.136 "Like the apostles of Jesus Christ, they have at times had some wrong expectations.-Luke 19:11; Acts 1:6".
This addresses an issue quite different to the one at hand. No one questions that individual Jehovah's Witnesses or even individual members of the Governing Body have to be perfect. The issue is whether the Governing Body operates under guidance of Jehovah and His Holy Spirit as a collective group. Does Jehovah direct what appears in the Watchtower journals?
Rather than suggesting that Apostles made mistakes ask "What percentage of the Apostles writings in the Bible are wrong?" Zero percent. "What percentage of Watchtower statements has been wrong?" The difference being that God's servants were directed by God, the Governing Body is not.
Pay Attention to Yourself and to All The Flock p.13 tells us;
"Today, Jehovah provides instruction by means of "the faithful steward." Why then is it that when the Watchtower Governing Body relies on Jehovah they have regularly been wrong? How can they pray for Jehovah's Holy Spirit on a decision or doctrine, publish it in the Watchtower, say it is to be accepted as the 'voice of God', and then later discard it as incorrect?
They are, in effect, saying that Jehovah is wrong. Jehovah made a mistake.
The Watchtower reliance on the 'new light' doctrine is no more than an excuse to justify inaccuracies. "New light" is an unhealthy concept that promotes blind, unquestioning devotion to an earthly Organization.
Watchtower changes include numerous false dates, changes of significant doctrine and the promotion of pagan symbols and teachings. Rules on shunning, medical advice and education have been adversely life changing, and have even lead to many deaths.
Deuteronomy 18:22 provides a foolproof way to determine if words being spoken have come from God; "the word [that] does not occur or come true, that is the word that Jehovah did not speak".
Ongoing doctrinal meandering can not be justified as new light; rather it is proof that God does not direct the Watchtower Society. The Bible does not make room for error; falsehood does not originate from Jehovah.

So...I God ignoring mankind?

Is Jesus a lame duck King without a congregation?

Lets's assume for the purposes of discussion that Jehovah's Witnesses are NOT God's people in today's world.

WHO IS?

Baptists? Catholics? Buddhists? Cargo Cultists? Methodists? Pentecostals? Voodoo practitioners?

The list could go on and on...and on and on.

As an engineer....I mentally write each group's name on a block of wood, and throw all these groups in one big pile and examine each one, all who claim some kind of special relationship with some one or some thing "godlike" ( to paint with a broad brush...).

after picking up each block of wood and examining the label, and everything I know...positive and negative, about each group, I throw
the blocks into the trash.

For me, Jehovah's Witnesses are the "default religion" that is left when all the others are thrown away.

As I have said before ... Jehovah's Witnesses are still in the process of extricating themselves from Christendom, and still carry some of that cesspool stench.

On one side of the block is written the plusses...on another side the minuses.....

The plusses outweigh the minuses by a factor of 50 to 1.

...problem is the list is in the thousands, so as the analogy goes, if there are 2000 items of positive things, there are 40 negative items.

Unfortunately, at least 20 of those are the ones that drive me nuts.

It is one thing to say.."yeah, yeah, yeah ... I realize nobody's perfect...", but it is another to realize that when your big red throbbing "ON" button is pushed, that you need to look at the positive things.

This is not a social club, a place to network with golfing buddies, or political rallying point.

The Scriptures say God chooses the weak and silly things of this world.

Boy...have we ever got THAT one covered!!

Tom, you are confusing man made religions with the congregation of Jesus Christ.
The scriptures say that God's people would come out of all the nations and tribes and tongues. So we should not look for them in any one specific group. He did not say that his people would come out of any specific religious group.
Remember Jesus said that when 2 or 3 are gathered in my name, there I am also.
Jesus said whoever exercises faith in me will be saved. That is the key to your salvation. Period, nothing else.

"As I have said before ... Jehovah's Witnesses are still in the process of extricating themselves from Christendom, and still carry some of that cesspool stench."

What proof do uyou have of this. I believe that this is simply a wish of yours. I have known others who have said this same thing. They devoted most of their life to the Watchtower organization and they can not bear to think that it was all in vain.

"The plusses outweigh the minuses by a factor of 50 to 1."

Are you aware that you change this percentage every time you write about it.

You mention your career a lot. I am sure it gives you pride to me an engineer. However, it in no way makes you immune from the machinations of the Watchtower organization. In fact, people who are, or think they are more intelligent than others often hang on longer, because they cannot believe that they were duped into believing the drivel that the Watchtower teaches.

You can look at all the positive things about the Watchtower that you want to, it still comes up lacking. Some people point to the fact that they teach there is no hellfire, and other fundamental teachings. Well, they are not the only ones who teach those things.
However, because they do teach them and because they have been wrong about almost everything else, I am now suspect those fundamental teaching of theirs too.

If it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck ........ well you know the rest!

There is no religion that represents God's truth, only individuals can do their best to accomplish this.
Religions are self-serving, ritualistic organization created by humans.
Stop trying to look for a religion to serve the True God. You will never find it.

There is one thing I know as an absolute truth.

If it had not been for Jehovah's Witnesses, I would never have learned the TRUTH.

I would have learned the garbage that has created a world of bloodshed and evil .... I would have been a good soldier ...serving evil masters.

I would NEVER have known the TRUTH about God, his Christ, his purposes for mankind, and the value of absolute Neutrality.

Those are the "1960 points" that make all the crap worth while.

Nuclear Physics is not something you learn on your own .... perhaps a VERY small piece of it...but not the whole picture, and to be able to work with it, and to draw energy from it, and to change the world.

True Theology is the same way.

Because Jehovah's Witnesses are evolving, perhaps they should be looked at the way a skydiver would see them, from a plane with an open door.

Outside the "world" of Jehovah's Witnesses you can only see Hiroshima, burning.

Tom, didn't the Watchtower teach you that there is no such thing as "absolute truth?"

You did not learn "truth" from the Watchtower. No one does.

Anyone who serves the Watchtower serves an evil master. I am sorry that you just don't get it and you probably never will, but it is true.

They tempt you in with flowery language about and scripture to show that they are the true religion, when there is really no such thing.

You are constantly told that you are special, that Jehovah brought you out of the world and that you are now counted worthhy by God of having everlasting life.

They have the blood of millions of people on their hands as a result of their opinions about blood and vaccinations and a myriad of other

"I would NEVER have known the TRUTH about God, his Christ, his purposes for mankind, and the value of absolute Neutrality."

You would have if you read your Bible. It is all there is black and white ready for those seeking real truth to find it.

"I would have learned the garbage that has created a world of bloodshed and evil .... I would have been a good soldier ...serving evil masters."

The watchtower teaches garbage that has created a world of bloodshed and evil....The Watchtower is full of good soldiers who serve evil masters.

"Nuclear Physics is not something you learn on your own......."

Then how did the very first person who practiced Nuclear Physics learn it? He wasn't taught by someone else, so what happened?

"True theology is the same way."

So are you calling Jesus a liar? Jesus said I am the way.... whosoever believeth in me shall have everlasting life.

If you do not believe the words of Jesus what "TRUTH did you actually learn from the Watchtower?

You said that the pioneer hours would change 1.9.2008. It seems that you are also making misstakes.

The new hours are supposed to take effect on September 1st, but the notice says that the letter will be sent to the Body of Elders at the end of August. I know that doesn't make much sense, but that what it says.
That's all I know. I guess we'll all see soon.

Thanks for answering. The thing is that I have enjoyed reading your blog. I don't agree with everything, but still enough to keep me comming back to read the latest blogs. But if you are wrong about the pioneer hours I won't return to this Internet page.

I respect that. The choice as to whether you come back to the blog is entirely up to you, but I respect your view. I wish that Jehovah's Witnesses would hold the Watchtower to the same high standard that you hold this lowly blog.

If the new pioneer hours don't materialize can't I just excuse myself by saying that I have "new light?"

If elders and the Governing body can not contradict with the Bible new understanding on different subjects, they should not persecute those who do not agree with them.
They could not cotradict that 1914 doctrine is false, and other themes when they disfellowshiped me, contrary to my wishes. I gathered some results of my personal Biblestudy on my webpage www.freewebs.com/scripturalanswers

As an engineer you know the necessity of accurate measurements and reliable proven data for analysis.
When you use a programme that proves to be wrong, a good engineer would discard all reference to it even if one or two of the mathematical equations are right. In the main the entire programme would be suspect.

Jehovahs Witnesses per se, have from inception been wrong about nearly every date, occurrence and comment regarding Jehovahs inspired words contained in the bible. A brief overview of the literature of the WTBTS will show you that.

Jehovah is a God of truth and what he says is and always will be utter truth. He never uses a man or woman or an organization to preach untruth or wrong information or falsehood. Yet men and women and organizations DO preach in his name untruths and wrong information and falsehoods.

This simply means they do not or never had his approval or blessing.

Your an engineer, either the measurement, programme or formula is correct.........or it isnt.

No comprimises.

"Deuteronomy 18:22 provides a foolproof way to determine if words being spoken have come from God; "

Well, since that was a prophecy leading to Christ and Christ has come and gone, it no longer applies.

And since we use the Bible as our basis, we are not prophets as it does not originate with us.

But then you knew that.

My kids mother is a Jehovah Witness and she would bash other religions daily; and that's why it didn't work out between us. That bothered me a lot so I asked GOD (ASK,SEEK,and KNOCK) what religion is the truly religion of them all. GOD answered my question by leading me to James 1:26-27. Hope yall can interpret if for your own understanding as did I. IRON SHARPENS IRON
