God Is Love

The Bible says that God is love, as Jesus commanded in Matthew 5:44-45:
"But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous;"
(These are beautiful heartwarming words from the Bible, right?)
Rather than loving their enemies, Jehovah's Witnesses are given a lesson in hate in the publication Life Everlasting in the Freedom of the Sons of God that:
"Haters of God and His people... are to be hated... We must hate in the truest sense, which is to regard with extreme and active aversion, to consider as loathsome, odious, filthy to detest. surely any haters of God are not fit to live on this beautiful earth... We must have a proper perspective of these enemies... We cannot love those hateful enemies, for they are fit only for destruction... We pray with intensity... and plead that Jehovah's anger be made manifest... Oh, Jehovah God of Hosts... be not merciful to any wicked transgressors... consume them in wrath, consume them that they shall be no more."
Can you just feel the love coming from Jehovah's people? Jimminy!!
Remember that these "Haters of God and his people" are simply those that do not believe that the Watchtower is God's organization.

Wow....

So you love bad, evil, malicious, perverted, sadistic people, eh?

..and you castigate Jehovah's people because they hate with a passion bad, evil, malicious, perverted, sadistic people, eh?

Wow!

So bizarro world is a reality and people actually live there....

Lets say you were an older man, and found yourself in a Nazi concentration camp.

Which side of the interrogation table would I expect to see you on?

Rook,

Matthew 5 couldn't be more clear. "Love your enemies and pray for those persecuting you." It's a hell of a leap to get from that Christian sentiment to what the Society views as a proper attitude toward those ones.

Not surprised. I was a member for over thirty years, and toward the end I saw a lot of this double-standard, Texas Two-Step going on from the upper tiers.

It's nice to be gone. Still, I see how they have blinded the brothers and it saddens me. However, there's always hope.

What the heck are you talking about? These are terms that Watchtower uses in their publications to vilify those who do not agree with them. Is that reason to hate people, because they do not share your opinion?
Tom, the Bible says to love even your enemies. Not so hard to understand, except when filtered through the Watchtower.

Yikes! Sounds like you(GBL) touched a nerve with Tom.

It is sad to see just how angry and sarcastic certain ones get when the TRUTH rings a bell in their conscious mind.

They become like fiery dragons.

Oh, those were the "Good old days" when every preacher breathed fire and brimstone from the pulpit to any sinners in their congragations. Where Hell was the destiny of anyone who dared to sin in most any church. A time when there were social restraints and moral obligations and people behaved "outwardly" in a respectable manner.

Yes, that very old publication does say that. But give me a break, Jehovah's Witnesses don't think, talk or write like that any more. (And preachers don't preach Hell and Damnation any more either.) We are constantly reminded to love our neighbors just like every other Christian religion.

Jehovah has guided the Organization into a better understanding of what it means to hate the bad but not the individual. Jesus has guided us to preach to all men in all nations, tribes, peoples and tongues. So there is the LOVE!

Again, if this is our "terrible History"....I say, so what, big deal, ...........we haven't tied anyone to a stake and set them on fire, put them to the rack, cut off body parts to extract some repentance.

Ohhhhh the love? Please.

Please! What is the page of the text in "Life Everlasting in the Freedom of the Sons of God "????

the page please!

Thanks!

That book is so old they probably can't find the text.............why not read something more current instead of a 50 year old book? It's like studying and quoting from of book of etiquet from the turn of the century........it just isn't relevent today.

NEWS FLASH: Jehovah's Witnesses don't celebrate Christmas.

QUICK! Someone post a picture of Christmas being celebrated at Bethel!!!

*sigh* what a waste of time these GBL posts are.

I don't have the book right now. My brother took it to read as he could not believe they would actually say such a thing. I will give you the page number tomorrow when he returns it.
However, luckily for you the Watchtower prints lot of stuff about hate. Here is another instance:
Haters of God and His people... are to be hated... We must hate in the truest sense, which is to regard with extreme and active aversion, to consider as loathsome, odious, filthy to detest. surely any haters of God are not fit to live on this beautiful earth... Sorry. Here is where the quote came from:

HATING JEHOVAH'S ENEMIES

Why not put where the quote came from from the beginning?

Jehovah has guided the organization........ Are you kidding me. It is blasphemy to put this organization coupled with Jehovah's name in the same sentence. So Jehovah taught the organization to be more politically correct? Jehovah has nothing to do with this self-appointed spokesman of his, who makes up doctrines and rules as they go along, in the same boardroom where they transact all their other corporate business.

Sorry, I just forgot to do it this time. I usually do. I will try to watch that in the future. Thanks.

i just had a tragedy in my life and i've been inactive for more than a decade.

these so-called "friends" who are jws and still in touch have used it as an opportunity to recruit me back into the organization....a quick, 'sorry to hear ____', then, 'you really need to get back to meetings'.

my so-called worldly friends have helped me with their support and love and knowing i just needed real comfort.

there's no genuine love in the jws...it's all conditional and suspect.

kimmy jo said...

anonymous,
That is EXACTLY how it is. No real comfort, just words like "wait on Jehovah", must get busy in the field service(doesn't matter that your eyes are swollen shut due to crying). I do not have a believing mate so the plot thickens...there are many clicks within a kingdom hall and you are right , everyone is suspect, never really trusting their "brother", I mean what would everyone think if you got close with someone and they got reproved or disfellowshipped! So, everyone is at a distance with each other, but always smiling like the cat before he eats the mouse.

Wow! Unbelievable quote GBL.

Interesting how the oldsters in this organization have passed this "hate" down within their local congregations.

Imagine "teaching" hate. I just can't imagine Jesus agreeing with this.

GBL:

"in the same board room where they transact all their other corporate business".

My, my, my......what is you obsession with the money, the corporation, the success of Jehovah's organization?

I ask again, where have the funds been misused?

Anonymous said...

A better question is: Where could the funds (Billions of dollars) be used?

(Sitting in a Bank does no one any good. There are so many good uses for this money it isn't even funny. How often have you been told not to store up treasures here on the earth? A billion dollars is quite the treasure here on earth.)

Also, let's not forget what this initial blog is about: "Teaching hate!"

That should make any JW stop dead in his tracks and re-think the notion that God hand-picked this organization in 1919 and that it's the only true religion.

Yes, the history of the JW's is very important because it reveals the root of the religion and can help anyone make an informed decision about it.
