The Watchtower Rejects the League of Nations?

The Watchtower, in its modern literature, tries to convey the impression that they rejected the League of Nations in 1919 and that everyone else embraced it. While they did reject the League of Nations later on, this was the initial reaction by "God's chosen people":
See: February 15, 1919 Watchtower:
"We cannot but admire the high principles embodied in the proposed League of Nations, formulated undoubtedly by those who have no knowledge of the great plan of God. This fact makes all the more wonderful the ideals which they express. For instance, it has been made plain by President Wilson and the advocates of his ideas that the proposed League of Nations is more than merely a league to enforce peace. They would not have us consider it to exclusively from the standpoint of politics or of military relations. It should be considered as fully from the economic and social points of view. The President's idea seems to be that the League of Nations which he proposes would stand for world service rather than mere world regulation in the military sense, and that the very smallest of nations shall be participants in its every arrangement. In other words, his idea undoubtedly is that the league shall not be established merely for the purpose of promoting peace by threat or coercion; but that its purpose, when put into operation, will be to make all nations of earth one great family, working together for the common benefit in all the avenues of national life. Truly this is idealistic, and approximates in a small way that which God has foretold that he will bring about after this great time of trouble." Watch Tower February 15, 1919 p.51(reprints page 6389).
Are the Watchtower leaders being completely honest about 1919 ?

What is wrong with saying that?

I admire the high principles in the UN. Nothing wrong with that.

But the UN is still the image of the wild beast.

I admire the high principles in the boy scouts, but they are still nationalistic.

Yes, that was the same Watchtower as today's Watchtower, which shows they are consistent with all their history in that they constantly change their story.

"The Watchtower, in its modern literature, tries to convey the impression that they rejected the League of Nations in 1919 and that everyone else embraced it. While they did reject the League of Nations later on, this was the initial reaction by "God's chosen people""

Again, ronde you miss the point...look at the history. Isn't that what you tell people of other religions/faiths "look at the history"?

Neither Jesus nor Jehovah are wishy washy, nor do they endorse any such organizational wishy washy nonsense. Jesus message is very clear.

Your admiration for the U.N. is not current with today's Watchtower teachings, now is it?

S said...

No, you miss the point.

We admire the high principles of the UN and League but reject it as the means of doing anything to bring peace. The Bible says that it will be destroyed regardless of its good intentions and high principles.

Nothing wishy washy or contradictory there or changed there.

I admire Obama's attempts at trying to change things for the better but I reject him as our leader.

"Yes, that was the same Watchtower as today's Watchtower"

No, it is not the same Watchtower.

That is like saying that what one presidential administration does is the same as what another does as it is the same USA. No, it is different people at a different time. Times do change and we changed with it. Nothing wrong with that. Those on the governing body were not even born in 1919 so why do you condemn them for what Rutherford wrote just because they use the same office buildings and printing facility called the Watchtower Society? Would you be happier if they relocated to different offices?
Well, they have, they went to Patterson. So it is not the same Watchtower.

As far as Jesus or Jehovah being Wishy washy. No, they aren't. They hate apostacy and those who speak against Jesus' brothers and stop worshipping Jehovah.

kimmy jo said...

Read this again ronde,
"Neither Jesus nor Jehovah are wishy washy, NOR DO THEY ENDORSE ANY SUCH ORGANIZATIONAL WISHY WASHY NONSENSE. Jesus message is very clear." Please address the words in capitalization.
Then you say:
"They hate apostasy and those who speak against Jesus' brothers and stop worshipping Jehovah."
Well that is a true statement. However, we are not speaking against Jesus brothers(what?) nor are we or have we stopped worshipping Jehovah. IT IS AGAINST THE WATCHTOWER WE SPEAK AND REVEAL ALL IT'S CONTRADICTIONS.

I DON'T THINK IT IS NECESSARY TO COME HERE AGAIN AND AGAIN TO PROOF THIS WEBSITE IS FULL OF LIES. NOT NECESSARY, SO GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU.
I AM JUST GOING TO ANSWER A LAST TIME FROM A PREVIOUS BLOG ABOUT THE FAITHFUL AND DISCREET SLAVE

GOOD LUCK APOSTATES JEHOVAH WITNESSES HAVE THE TRUTH ABOUT GOD
AND THEY ARE THE ONLY ONE HELPING PEOPLE TO LEARN THE TRUTH.

YOU CAN SAY WHATEVER YOU WANT IT YOUR SITE, YOU WILL NOT WIN THE BATTLE, THE SINCERE PEOPLE WHO ARE REALLY LOOKING FOR GOD WILL CONTINUE TO BECOME JEHOVAH WITNESS UNTIL THE END COME AND IT WILL COME
SO ONCE AGAIN GOOD LUCK
I GIVE UP IT IS A WASTE OF TIME TO CONTINUE TO COME HERE

ronde, you are correct. People change, ideas change, building change but JEHOVAH GOD does not change! He and His Word should be the one consistent factor. So no matter what else happens or what ideas others may have, we should always be able to point to God's Organization as being uncganging. That should be the definitive proof that it is indeed Jehovah's organization. Just as Kimmy jo said there would be no flip flop of doctrines or wishy washy ideas if this was truly Jehovah's organization. The doctrine that people in this organization believed 50 years ago should be the exact same doctrines we believe today. Instead, the doctrines and beliefs of the Watchtower change constantly.
defender, no there is nothing you can do. You worship a false god and a false organization. Salvation comes only through Jesus Christ, The Bible does not mention an organization at all. You need to really read your Bible, without Watchtower blinders.

but, has the wtbts EVER apologized for their horrid interpretations and decisions that have affected the lives of millions and killed many in Malawi.

they'll never apologize, just say 'new light'. kind of like an abusive, alcoholic husband...give a back slap, then pretend it never happened.

read crisis of conscience for details regarding Malawi and the "ban" on praying in Mexico was actually self imposed so the wtbts wouldn't have to pay taxes. didn't someone in the bible pray even when it was against the law?

the lies and spin continue. thanks GBL blog for continuing to expose the pathos.

I recently pointed out to a JW that in the inspection period (which JWs claim was 1918-19) JWs believed and actively taught that Jesus returned in 1874.

Lie.

So when he knocked in 1914, would he have found them;
- awake
- alert
- watching for his arrival

Answer to all three is NO.

This JW, however, dismissed this little theological boo-boo by saying, "ok, so they were in error!"

Correct.

They were in error.

So why would Christ, then, when EVERY OTHER Christian group was still awaiting his return (i.e. they didn't believe and feed others with the 'truth' that he'd returned in 1874) give JWs his earthly belongings? Wouldn't he be concerned that they would continue to mislead them about his heavenly return?

Dearest defender,
It is difficult , if not impossible, to defend the Watchtower for all it's hypocrisy and lies and for misleading so many over the years.
So I don't blame you for leaving this site.
I know for a fact that you are seeing the TRUTH about the organization you call the truth and it scares you.
Remember, "DO NOT BE MISLEAD"
Listen to your gut, use the teachings of the Watchtower to judge them and they cannot stand as the before the true God as they claim. "DO NOT BE AFRAID"
P.S. hit your spell check button before you send.

Kimmy Jo:
"Neither Jesus nor Jehovah are wishy washy, NOR DO THEY ENDORSE ANY SUCH ORGANIZATIONAL WISHY WASHY NONSENSE."

How do you know that?

Since the organization is 7 million witnesses and it began with those anointed ones that are made from the same fabric that the 12 that walked with Jesus are made from, why would Jesus expect more from the ones today than those that argued among themselves who was the greatest?"

"However, we are not speaking against Jesus brothers(what?) nor are we or have we stopped worshipping Jehovah. IT IS AGAINST THE WATCHTOWER WE SPEAK AND REVEAL ALL IT'S CONTRADICTIONS."

If you are arguing against me and other Jehovah's Witnesses and you are not serving with us shoulder to shoulder, then you have stopped worshipping Jehovah God.

Speak against the Watchtower all you want. We are not members of the Watchtower, never have and never will be. We are members of the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

S said...

anon:

"He and His Word should be the one consistent factor. So no matter what else happens or what ideas others may have, we should always be able to point to God's Organization as being uncganging."

Yes, the organization is unchanging and has not changed, except for the better.

"That should be the definitive proof that it is indeed Jehovah's organization." The fact that it has always gotten better and moved forward shows that it is Jehovah's organization.

Why would anyone want an organization that does not change?

"Just as Kimmy jo said there would be no flip flop of doctrines or wishy washy ideas if this was truly Jehovah's organization."

I don't agree.

Since Jehovah does not speak to anyone through inspiration, and our understandings are based on our study of his word and the watching of its fulfillment, We can only know what we know. Israel stuck to the specific word given to Moses. Today's Moses is Jesus, but there is no specific word like there was back then.

" The doctrine that people in this organization believed 50 years ago should be the exact same doctrines we believe today."

Why? Why would we what to stay in the past? That is nuts. That would mean that we don't learn and grow. Nuts.

" Instead, the doctrines and beliefs of the Watchtower change constantly."

Not really. Nothing has changed.
Jehovah is God and Jesus is his son. What more is there?

"defender, no there is nothing you can do. You worship a false god and a false organization."

ARe you saying that Jehovah is a false God? Your words, not mine.
And we don't worship an organization. How can we worship the person sitting next to us at an assembly hall?

"Salvation comes only through Jesus Christ, The Bible does not mention an organization at all. You need to really read your Bible, without Watchtower blinders."

Yes, the Bible does mention an organization. You are the ones with the Blinders. Ever read Paul's letters to the organization of Roman Christians? Or the Corinthians or Ephesians etc?
Or Peter's or James' or Jude's or John's letters to the organization.
Organization is another word for Congregation.

Heb 10:24&25 says that we are to not forsake the gathering of ourselves. That implies congregation or organization.

Who is the one with blinders?

Staying faithful to Jehovah and not the nations is never horrid.

The ones at fault there is the wild beast. They are the ones that killed many. The WTS did nothing wrong and they did good for telling people not to bow the the beast.

"read crisis of conscience for details regarding"

Read it and it is lowsy and boring.
And meaningless. Ray Franz is the wishy washy one. I heard a talk from him that says that JWs have the truth.

"Malawi and the "ban" on praying in Mexico was actually self imposed so the wtbts wouldn't have to pay taxes. didn't someone in the bible pray even when it was against the law?"

There is no ban on praying.
Praying can not be banned.
It was the decision of the people, not the WTBTS. The WTBTS does not have to pay taxes.

The Bible students were not in error in the early days for believing that Jesus was present in 1874, because he was. That is the 40 year period that preceeded his kingship. It is just not relevant anymore because we are past 1874.

And Jesus did not base his inspection on their beliefs on matters, he based it on their faith.

It is not "So why would Christ, then, when EVERY OTHER Christian group was still awaiting his return give JWs his earthly belongings?"

It is not "why" but the fact that he did. These other Christian groups have nothing. And from 1874 -1914 they were awaiting his return. Jesus did not return in 1874. We do not and did not believe that. In 1918 he returned to his apostles by resurrecting them. Other than tha, there is no return.

"Wouldn't he be concerned that they would continue to mislead them about his heavenly return?"

As I just said, there is no heavenly or earthly return. It is that he resurrected his disciples and they returned to him.

Once again the author of this blog misrepresents truth and twists information for his own agenda.

It is interesting to note that a certain quote from the Wt. Feb 15, 1919 issue is left out.

Wt Feb.15 1919-
“there can be no lasting League of Nations unless these are in league with God”

Thus, it’s actually evidence that attention was really being directed to God for the solution to mankind’s problems.

Note what is written in the very next issue of the Watchtower (March 1, 1919) under the subheading “The World’s Only Hope”

“Those who know that the Christ and his kingdom constitute the only lasting remedy for the wrongs and the woes of men should be pointing the groaning creation to this fact rather than to the poultices of human contrivance, which can do no real good.”

Also declared in the same Watchtower issue of March 1, 1919-

“Lasting relief to suffering humanity will come neither through human uplift nor through any league of nations, however desirable such an arrangement might be, but only through the power of Christ…”

It is also of note that the proposal for the League of Nations was approved Jan. 25, 1919. This was only 1 week before the Watchtower issue of Feb. 1, 1919 was released. In fact the Covenant to created the League was signed on June 28, 1919 and the League did not fully come into existence until Jan 10, 1920. Could it be that the writers of the time did fully understand the total overall function or agenda that the League would have as it didn’t even come into being until almost a full year after the comments published in the Watchtower of Feb. 1919? And while they did extol the virtues the league was trying to upheld, they still pointed to God and his Son as the only hope for true peace and Mankind’s salvation.

So a comment to the author of this blog:
Please stop scouring the internet for misleading information. And if you are going to post information that you have pilfered from other sites at least make sure this information is not out of context. Because when you do, it actually puts the validity of this blog and your credentials into question.

Sigh....

First of all..watching my brothers try to defend the indefensible is sad.

The Society has been wrong before...it will be wrong again.

Welcome to the world of carbon based life forms!

Prophesy is a tough gig, and no one should really try it.

In the hotel I am staying we had three false fire alarms this week...panic, people in the street in bathrobes and no shoes, fire trucks and ambulances surrounding the building.

Someones burnt cake on the third floor must have cost about $10,000 to respond to.

But it is better to have false alarms...than none. (write that down...)

I admire Hitler emphasizing physical fitness, the autobahns, the trains being made to run on time, etc., but despise all else he stood for.

Some of these posts sound like someone has taken speed and had one foot nailed to the floor.

Lighten up.

Of course, you could lambaste with vehemence and anger the evil Chemists who a hundred years ago filled textbooks with drivel which we now know is not true.

Or the evil Astronomers.

Or the evil physicists.

Or the evil doctors who killed hundreds of thousands of people with their, what we NOW know to be, quackery and arrogance in the field of medicine.

Lighten up.

If you don't want to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses, the door is open, and there is a long road, and a big planet to explore.

To paraphrase a common expression .. "Stuff" happens.

"The light gets brighter as you behold the day drawing near" applies to every area of human endeavor.

Get used to being wrong.

Every day we should try to prove what we believed yesterday is false...otherwise we get stuck with a theology that includes happy pumpkins, flying reindeer, toymaking elves, and chocolate rabbits that lay candy eggs.

And sacrificing your sons in a nations wars.

The only constant in the Universe is change.

Unless of course, you get saddled with teaching you children to fear displeasing an Elf from the North Pole.

I understand most people eat the ears off of the chocolate bunnys first.

Warren,

They are simply using this material as an excuse for them to stop serving Jehovah with the congregation.

They know that this is the truth but they want to do their own thing and they think that since it is not perfect, i.e. the president of the Watchtower is not as perfect as Jesus, then they think that excuses them from the congregation and from true worship.

We visit these apostate sites because Jesus said in John 3:16 to exercise your faith in Jesus. This is good exercise.

Well, if he is doing such a fantastic job, why the anonymity?
So who is mindless after all?

"You're doing a fantastic job, and there must be lots more people like myself who appreciate your efforts."

Because you think that this excuses your wicked conduct, but putting down the Watchtower does not bless you at all.

If you're a true worshipper of Jehovah, you shouldn't be on this site. Period. So what are you still doing here? If you think you're right, why don't you obey the organisation like they tell you to, by avoiding apostate sites such as this?

As an atheist, I find worship of any god, whether Jehovah or Allas disgusting - there's no shame in it. It's the only rational and logical conclusion to make, once you decide to stop sucking the ass of the WTBS and actually READ your beloved bible (whether the NWT or any other version)

If you're not scared of anonymity yourself, why aren't you giving your name and congregation so the elders, etc can perform the necessary judicial action for failing to abide by the rules of 'Jehovah's mouthpiece'? The author of this blog doesn't have to give their real name, especially when there are pathetic defenders who attempt to defend the organisation, yet prove by mere virtue of their being on this site, that they themselves cannot follow the organisation!

I love my 'wicked conduct' as you put it. It's a damn sight better than your presumably 'loving' conduct, which is clear for all to see on this site. And your attempts at defence make you look even more pathetic.

Well, since we can't stone it, we have to keep stating the the blog owner is 'stoned'.
Obey the organization? what does that mean? We are the organization so how can I obey myself?

"As an atheist, I find"

If you are an atheist, what are you doing here?

"blog doesn't have to give their real name,". Of course Randall Watters and Danny Haszard do not have to because they are scum already.

"so the elders".

Since this is not a congregation thing, it is not the congregation's business.

Just thought this should be posted again.
