Will The Watchtower Preach Via You Tube?

YouTubevangelists
YouTube Gets Religion
By DAVID VAN BIEMA

When people think of religion on YouTube, most probably flash to "gotcha" videos of Sarah Palin's old church or Barack Obama's old pastor. But the video-sharing site is also being used by a wildly diverse collection of pastors, rabbis, imams, gurus, and pious laypeople — like Roman Catholic Steve Silvia, who made the video above — to celebrate and explain their creeds. These aren't glitzy televangelists. In keeping with the YouTube ethos, many simply fire up camcorder and go. But low cost and infinite range, plus the mini-video's ascent as one of the culture's preferred ways of imbibing information, means vastly increased exposure for clerics who would otherwise have tiny flocks. "For years, people in my business talked about how the Internet was going to revolutionize religion the way the printing press helped create Protestantism, but it didn't happen," says Steve Waldman, founder of the multi-faith website Beliefnet. But with the rise of YouTube, he thinks the unassuming, grass-roots religion clips like the ones that follow "could be the beginning of that kind of transformation."

Poor old Frank. He is so worked up about the ex JWs on here, but cant understand why the JWs would want to come here either.

But he himself has to keep coming back. Its like an itch he has to scratch. He just cant resist.

'they already have a mental attitude a way of thinking that will not change despite if you show them they are wrong'

That is exactly how we feel about the JWS. Stop living in a bubble Frank.

And its Yakkity Yak, not Yakee Yak. What the heck does Yakeee Yak mean?

How come Frank still visits this site? Is he not going against Watchtower rules by reading here? Or does he pick and choose the rules he wants to follow?

The Watchtower places great emphasis on the house-to-house ministry. Though the house to house work is an acceptable way to preach, it is never indicated scripturally as a sign of God’s followers nor prescribed as the way to preach.

The only time that the term ‘house to house’ is used in regards to preaching to unbelievers was when Jesus sent out the 70 disciples. On this occasion Jesus plainly stated not to go house to house.

Luke 10:1-7 “After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos in advance of him into every city and place to which he himself was going to come. … 5 Wherever YOU enter into a house say first, ‘May this house have peace.’ 6 And if a friend of peace is there, YOUR peace will rest upon him. But if there is not, it will turn back to YOU. 7 So stay in that house, eating and drinking the things they provide, for the worker is worthy of his wages. Do not be transferring from house to house. (Ek oikia eis oikia)”

The Watchtower uses two other scriptures from Acts to indicate preaching should be from house to house. However these scriptures are incorrectly translated in the New World Translation and continually misapplied in Watchtower publications!

Watchtower 1991 January 15 p.11 "The principal way in which that work would be done became evident immediately after the day of Pentecost 33 C.E. “Every day in the temple and from house to house they continued without letup teaching and declaring the good news about the Christ, Jesus.” (Acts 5:42) Some 20 years later, the apostle Paul was engaging in the house-to-house ministry, for he reminded Christian elders from the city of Ephesus: “I did not hold back from telling you any of the things that were profitable nor from teaching you publicly and from house to house.”—Acts 20:20."

The Greek used at Acts 5:42 and Acts 20:20 is not Ek oikia eis oikia, but rather Kata oikos. For this reason bible translations usually render this “in every house”, “at home” or “in their homes”. Whilst the New World Translation of Acts 20:20 uses the phrase “house to house” the footnote admits that the Greek word means “in private houses”. At Acts 20:20 Paul is not discussing preaching to unbelievers but rather teaching those who already were Christians. A more accurate way to understand these scriptures in Acts is “we were teaching you at your homes” similar to the way Witnesses hold congregation book studies.

That is a huge contributing factor as to why the Organization behind Jehovah's Witnesses is so against groups if its followers coming together to examine original Greek and Hebrew writings to verify accuracy of the New World Translation. When one does so, it disproves beliefs and teachings of the Organization.

*******
KM Sept 2007 Page 3 - Question Box
Does the "faithful and discreet slave" endorse independent groups of Witnesses who meet to engage in Scriptural research or debate?
No, it does not. And yet, in various parts of the world, a few associates of our organization have formed groups to do independent research on Bible-relegated subjects. Some have pursued an independent group study of Biblical Hebrew and Greek so as to analyze the accuracy of the New World Translation.
*******

The Organization of Jehovah's Witnesses has much to worry about if their followers all start examining and study original language Biblical writings.

They could have a least rephrased the question to not make the Organization look so bad.

The question is not "Does the "faithful and discreet slave" endorse independent groups of Witnesses who meet to engage in Scriptural research AND debate?" Rather, the question is "Does the "faithful and discreet slave" endorse independent groups of Witnesses who meet to engage in Scriptural research OR debate?"

Which means they do not even support the idea of their followers coming together to engage in Scriptural research independent of the meetings and assemblies designed by the Organization behind Jehovah's Witnesses. Why? One of the main reasons is the Organization can't control or interpret information for them.

I don't think we will ever get to the point of preaching thru youtube.

The Watchtower will never 'expose' us memmbers to what's out there and risk loosing us. The more media control they have upon us the better we are more likely to follow without question. Another issue is that there is never a real way to 'reason' with individuals thru internet since debates seem to be never ending or pointless as oposed to preaching in person. We want 'sheep' like individuals who are willing to listen and follow, not goats...lol.

Preaching thru youtube would only level the playing field for everybody (wich would be fair).
It seems it's better to catch you off guard like in the mornings when we wake you up, therefore you are not prepared and less likely to dispute with us since you have a life to get back to and we don't...lol.

I have had a couple of visits a year from various Churches. There message is to basically 'Please join our church- we have coffee and donuts, etc.'

The Witnesses actually use the Bible and answer Bible questions.

So do other religous organizations. Sorry, you have not had the pleasure of encountering others. But 3 billion other people never heard of Jesus or Christianity either - Including many from China and India.

I say,
Yes, they do. They are not forcing anyone to join them they do it very suttle and very slow with morsels of scripture they call 'truth'. Or you could call it a door to door seduction, once you are agreeable, it is a continuation of soft strokes until you are committed. Once committed, it is difficult to leave and you may have sacrificed family and friends to get in, now you must do that to get out.

I do not believe they will use the 'You tube' to preach because they preach the gathering together thing.

It is not the Watchtower's job to preach. It is all Christians' job.

Youtube is for losers.

Youtube is for losers.

The Watchtower's job evidently is to control the lives of Jehovah's Witnesses. As their so-called faithful and discreet slave CLASS (Unfounded in the Bible), gives new light which contradicts old light, or goes back to previous teachings. The Watchtower is also used to instruct it's followers what dedication and baptism to JW entails. Instead of it being dedication to the Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit (As instucted in the Bible by Jesus), it is to The Father, The Son and God's Spirit-Directed organization (Again, not Biblical - but man-made by JWs).

It certainly is a Chrisitan's job to preach, but your opinion about Youtube, or how the preaching work should be accompished, or what means should be or should not be utilized is certainly not the final say nor God-given direction.
