Watchtower Study For October 26, 2008

JEHOVAH TENDERLY CARES FOR HIS ELDERLY SERVANTS "God is not unrighteous so as to forget your work and the love you showed for his name "-HEB. 6:10.

This Watchtower article is disgusting. Let me give you some examples:

13 Showing consideration for the feelings of older ones is essential. It is not unusual for the elderly to be deeply grieved by their inability to accomplish all that they were able to when they were younger and healthier. For instance, a sister who served Jehovah actively for some 50 years and who had been a regular pioneer developed a debilitating illness and could attend meetings only with great difficulty. When she compared her former ministry with her present limitations, she began to cry. Lowering her head, she said through her tears, "I'm not doing anything anymore."
While it's natural to get upset that you can't do nearly as much in your 70s or 80s as what you could in your 20s or 30s, I can't help but wonder how much of this "guilt" has been subconsciously festering in their minds over the years with all the articles that basically tell you that if you're not going to all the meetings and out in Service, you're not pleasing Jehovah and just might die at Armageddon. It's no wonder this woman cried.
18. Many modern-day examples prove that older ones can "keep on thriving." But the challenges of illness and old age can be daunting, even for those who have caring and committed family members to help them. Caregivers too may become worn-out. The congregation has the privilege and responsibility to put their love into action in behalf of older ones and those who care for them. (Gal. 6:10) Such help shows that we are not, in effect, telling such ones to go and "keep warm and well fed" without assisting them in practical ways.-Jas. 2:15-17.
These kinds of statements just make me want to puke. If the Watchtower is so concerned about caring for the elderly, why don't they lead by example? How many impoverished elderly Witnesses are there that maybe have no health insurance (in the USA) and who can't afford to go to the doctor? Does this multi-billion dollar corporation give any financial assistance at all?? What about Sister Widowed whose husband died without leaving her the means to live on? Do the goons who sit behind their desks at Columbia Heights or at Patterson authorize financial help at all? When was the last time that a member of the Governing Body members have a elderly sister or brother over for a meal? To my knowledge, the Organization itself offers no assistance at all to elderly ones. If anyone fits the description of telling these ones to "keep warm and well fed" and then doesn't lift a finger to help these ones, its the very people who write these hypocritical articles.
Some older fellow believers have carried heavy loads of responsibility and have endured persecution for the sake of the good news. Jehovah and "the faithful and discreet slave" deeply appreciate all their past and present contributions to the Kingdom work. -Matt. 24:45.
Look at the structure off this sentense. They are actually elevating their status to that of Jehovah's!
The Watchtower says and does are two different things. They like to dictate to the congregations what they should do to please God, but set no example themselves.

Hey guys why paying attention to craps, visit www.giveyouropinions.blogspot.com
let's talke about movies.
this blog is full of discrimination against Jehovah witnesses, if you want to know the true about Jehovah witnesses, go to the source and see for yourself.
pay attention to these scriptures:
you will agree to say Jesus was a good man the son of God.
Matthew 11:19 read this:
Regarding Jesus people say:"Look a man of gluttonous and given to drinking wine, a friend of tax collectors and sinners. All the same, wisdom is proved righteous by it's works.
Luke 23:2 look the accusation against Jesus:" then they started to accuse him, saying. This Man we found subverting our nation and forbidding the paying of taxes to Caesar......
if you was living at Jesus time how will be able to find the true?
you would hear many false accusations regarding Jesus. some even said he had a demon.
no doubt you would need a sincere heart, the problem is the heart.
the majority did listen to Jesus teachings, and saw his good works, but they still wanted to murder him. have you ever take a watchtower magazine or an awake magazine to read? the sincere ones will agree that these magazines are full of good instructions coming from the bible. let's take for example the watchtower study for this week, it was full of encouragement for older ones and how we should take care of them. let me give you a few scriptures from the watchtower. Leviticus 19:32 :Before gray hair you should rise up, and you must show consideration for for the person of an old man.
the watchtower teaching is to respect Older ones, and show consideration to them.
and Hebrew 6:10 : For God is not unrighteous so as to forget youe work and the love you showed for his name......
the witnesses preach and teach about God's kingdom because of Love for God that's the reason why some of them become discourage when they are not able to do what they can, because of sickness, and because they are old.
Hebrew 6:10 and the other scriptures in the watchtower for this week are a very good encouragement.

why should someone criticise a publication that show how the true God consider Old people and how we should respect their dignity?

now think about Jesus. why is it that the majority criticised a man who cured the sick, raised the dead and taught God's words?

go figure.

by the way don't forgot www.giveyouropinions.blogspot.com I am not the author of this blog but I find it interesting.

Most of who read this blog have been and were members of the JWs. Some of us even were in positions of oversight.
We see the WT talking out of both sides of their mouth...unlike yourself who has found another orifice to spout Society doctrine from.
In the spirit of your cowardice, I will emulate your fine quality of hiding.....

Paragraph 3 of this study article is particularly offensive to Christians where is says "Jehovah and the "faithful and discreet slave" deeply appreciate all their past and present contributions to the kingdom work."

The "faithful and discreet slave" are put on the same level as Jehovah? Where does Jesus fit in? Is He or is He not King of Kings and Lord of Lords? Was He or was He not given all authority in heaven and on earth and a name above every name?

Anonymous said...

Being a JW involves every aspect of your life. It is your life, not just a religion you visit a couple pf times a week.

Why doesnt the Society have programs to help the elderly and the infirm, who have 'faithfully' worked for the faithful and discreet slave over many years?

They are too busy making sure everyone is out knocking on doors. That is the priority they say. But they have the means to look after 'widows and orphans' and the elderly right here and now, who are going through struggles and pain and problems right here and now.

The promise of paradise and the insistence on the paramount importance of the preaching work is no excuse to not care for people right now.

When I looked after the congregation coach that helped some without transport to get to assemblies, there was always a great reluctance to subsidize the fares, so that the less able and less fortunate would find it easier to be able to afford to go to the assembly.

One sister struggled with 4 children... We could have let those kids go free, but the elders were more concerned about congregation finances, knowing they could get no bail out from the Society if they had financial problems.

I knew from talking to other brothers who organized the coaches for different congs that they had the same problems.

This article IS hypocritical.

Anonymous said...

Oh shut up...whaaaa you former JW's are always complaining.

The article is a REMINDER to keep doing what they already do. They don't need a formal "program" to care for the elderly because they do it for each other as Christian Brothers and Sisters anyway.

Keeping the Congragations small helps them know one another and thus be aware of individual needs. "Programs" are needed for the sick and elderly in the world because the churches are so big, no one even knows who the heck needs what.

All you ex-JW"s, go sit in the corner and suck your thumb.

Where do you get the idea that it is the WTS's job to do that? It is not the job of religion to do that, that is what the congregation and family and friends do. That is what the government does, not a printing company.

" What about Sister Widowed whose husband died without leaving her the means to live on? Do the goons who sit behind their desks at Columbia Heights or at Patterson authorize financial help at all? "

That is not their job to do so? They do not have the responsiblity to provide socialism. You liberals are so disgusting that you want the WTS to do everything for you. Why don't you provide the help?

"When was the last time that a member of the Governing Body members have a elderly sister or brother over for a meal?"

I love it! When the Watchtower Society slams some other religion it's "boldly standing up for righteousness", but when they get caught grinding people into the ground until they die sick and poverty-stricken - it's 'discrimination'!

So let's all march over to stick-your-head-in-the-sand.blogspot.com and forget all about the lies that the Watchtower Society has been telling honest people for over a century.

The WTS is not doing business as Jehovah's Witnesses. That is how the Kingdom Halls are listed on the deed or mortgages.

As to whether they have divine backing... The people who work there do.

DBA, short for "doing business as", is a formal declaration that an individual, company or organization is conducting business under a different name. DBA's are also commonly referred to as fictitious business names, assumed business names and trade names. All these terms mean the same thing.

Usually, businesses are started by registering them under the owner(s) name. When this occurs, the owners often choose a name for the business and register a DBA to make it official. If your business is registered under your name and you intend to conduct business under a different name, you must file a DBA...get started

DBA's need to be filed so business owners can use the name in contracts, open bank accounts, write and cash checks with that business name. It also discourages competitors from using your name or a similar one.

DBA statements are often used in conjunction with a franchise. The franchisee will have a legal name, but conduct business under the franchise's brand name (which the public would recognize). Thus, a franchisee for Imo's Pizza (a local St. Louis pizza restaurant) might have the legal name of "The Sauce Company, Inc. D.B.A. Imo's Pizza".

Notably in California and also in other areas, filing a DBA statement also requires that a notice of the fictitious name be published in local newspapers for some set period of time to inform the public of the owner's intent to operate under an assumed name. The intention of the law is to protect the public from fraud, by compelling the business owner to record his/her name with the County Recorder, and making a further public record of it by publishing it in a newspaper.

So ,yes, the Kingdom Halls and property is run as a franchise with the public name is Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Halls but the legal name of the owner is the WTBTS.

But that does not mean that the Jehovah's Witness are the WTBTS .

*** w98 3/15 p. 18 par. 3 Living Up to Christian Dedication in Freedom ***

Someone may argue that the way the Witnesses speak about the Watch Tower Society—or more often just “the Society”—indicates that they view it as more than a legal instrument. Do they not consider it to be the final authority on matters of worship? The book Jehovah’s Witnesses—Proclaimers of God’s Kingdom clarifies this point by explaining: “When The Watchtower [June 1, 1938] referred to ‘The Society,’ this meant, not a mere legal instrumentality, but the body of anointed Christians that had formed that legal entity and used it.” The expression therefore stood for “the faithful and discreet slave.” (Matthew 24:45) It is in this sense that the Witnesses generally used the term “the Society.”
***

Really anyone who has ever been one of Jehovah's Witnesses or has been associated with them knows how we're using the term Watchtower Society.

Matthew 11:19 Jesus said Wisdom is proved righteous by his works.

That's probably not the best scripture to bring up in light of all of the failed prophesies they've issued, their membership in the UN NGO program and their attempts to get in Hitler's good graces.

you can say whatever you want, any sincere people who read the watchtower publications and awake magazines will see the wisdom of the bible.

Sincere people do not need the Watchtower Society's publications to see the wisdom of the Bible.

if you are sincere and want to know the truth you will do your own research,

The Watchtower Society does not want you to do your own research.

Question Box

▪ Does “the faithful and discreet slave” endorse independent groups of Witnesses who meet together to engage in Scriptural research or debate?—Matt. 24:45, 47.

No, it does not.
***

The answer is very clear. The Watchtower Society wants you to study the Bible the way they tell you to study it.

go to a meeting of jehovah witnesses, read the watchtower publications, read the book the bible teach, and see for yourself, instead of coming here.

If you do go to a meeting of Jehovah's Witnesses, take note of the cult control technique called love bombing. It's the first step in gaining your trust and getting control over how you think and even who you talk to.

Additionally, don't let anyone tell you where to get information about any group. If the Watchtower Society had nothing to hide, they would have no problem with sites like this one. Instead they are unreasonably defensive about people who speak against them.

*** w97 4/15 p. 30 Do You Eat Well Spiritually? ***

Spiritual Contamination

Besides the threat of spiritual starvation, there is another danger we need to be aware of—the type of food that we eat may itself be contaminated. Taking in teachings infected by dangerous demonic ideas can poison us just as easily as can eating physical food that has been tainted with germs or toxins. (Colossians 2:8) It is not always easy to spot poisonous food. “Food,” says one authority, “may sometimes appear quite wholesome and yet harbour pathogenic bacteria.” So we do well to examine the source of our figurative food, bearing in mind that some literature, such as apostate writings, may be infected by the introduction of unscriptural teachings and philosophies. Some food manufacturers even use misleading labeling to deceive their customers as to the contents of their product. We certainly can expect Satan, the great deceiver, to do the same. Make sure, therefore, that you get such figurative food from a reliable source, so that you stay “healthy in the faith.”—Titus 1:9, 13.

*** w94 7/1 p. 12 par. 12 At Which Table Are You Feeding? ***

12 Yes, apostates publish literature that resorts to distortions, half-truths, and outright falsehood. They even picket Witness conventions, trying to trap the unwary. Hence, it would be a dangerous thing to allow our curiosity to move us to feed on such writings or to listen to their abusive speech! While we might not think it a risk for us personally, the hazard remains. Why? For one thing, some of the apostate literature presents falsehoods by means of “smooth talk” and “counterfeit words.” (Romans 16:17, 18; 2 Peter 2:3) What would you expect from the table of demons? And while the apostates may also present certain facts, these are usually taken out of context with the goal of drawing others away from the table of Jehovah. All their writings simply criticize and tear down! Nothing is upbuilding.

Not all criticism is bad... especially when the organization being criticized has so much to hide. The Watchtower Society has no problem criticizing others as 'false prophets' or 'false religion' but when someone criticizes them they claim 'persecution'.

The Watchtower Society also consistently vilifies the internet...

*** km 1/03 p. 1 par. 3 Living Up to Our Dedication ***

3 As in the case of Jesus, we must “oppose the Devil.” (Jas. 4:7) Satan tempted Jesus following His baptism, and he similarly targets dedicated servants of Jehovah today. (Luke 4:1-13) Being surrounded by Satan’s world, we must exercise self-discipline, avoiding anything that could contaminate our mind or corrupt our heart. (Prov. 4:23; Matt. 5:29, 30) Christians are admonished that they “cannot be partaking of ‘the table of Jehovah’ and the table of demons.” (1 Cor. 10:21) This requires that we guard against unwholesome entertainment, bad associations, and dangers on the Internet. It also calls for our shunning apostate material. Being alert to these and other tactics of Satan will help us to live up to our dedication.

*** km 7/07 p. 3 Question Box ***

It is easy for a person whom we meet over the Internet to be deceptive about his identity, his spirituality, or his motives. (Ps. 26:4) An individual claiming to be one of Jehovah’s Witnesses may actually be an unbeliever, a disfellowshipped person, or even an active apostate. (Gal. 2:4) Reportedly, many pedophiles use such Web sites to find their victims.

*** w06 1/1 p. 27 par. 10 Seeking Righteousness Will Protect Us ***

10 Moreover, propaganda promoting immorality seems to be everywhere. Movies and television programs suggest that it is perfectly acceptable for young people to have sex before marriage. Homosexual relationships are depicted as normal. And many shows depict increasingly graphic sex. Pictures of graphic sex are also easily accessible on the Internet. For instance, a newspaper columnist reported that his seven-year-old son came home from school and excitedly told his father that a school friend had come across an Internet site showing naked women performing sex acts. The father was horrified, but how many children have come across such sites without telling their parents? In addition, how many parents know the contents of the video games their children play? Many popular games feature disgusting immorality, as well as demonism and violence.

*** w06 1/15 p. 23 par. 13 Do Not Allow Place for the Devil ***

13 Because of listening to the Devil and not rejecting his lies, the first human pair apostatized. So, then, should we listen to apostates, read their literature, or examine their Web sites on the Internet? If we love God and the truth, we will not do so. We should not allow apostates into our homes or even greet them, for such actions would make us ‘sharers in their wicked works.’ (2 John 9-11) May we never succumb to the Devil’s wiles by abandoning the Christian “path of truth” to follow false teachers who seek to “introduce ruinous ideologies” and try to ‘exploit us with well-turned phrases.’—2 Peter 2:1-3, Byington.

I'll stop quoting here, but you get the idea. The warnings go beyond the reasonable warning for parents and link the internet with apostates and demons.

the owner of this blog heart is not sincere, yes this man is not sincere.

How exactly would you know whether or not the owner of this blog is sincere? A person can be sincere and still be wrong, like the millions of sincere Jehovah's Witnesses who have been mislead by the Watchtower Society.

Unfortunately for the Watchtower Society, we aren't going to 'shut up'. There's also a difference between mere complaining and speaking out against a high-control group such as the Watchtower Society.

The Watchtower Society has lots of programs. They have 'education' programs for new ones and for those taking the lead. They have expansion programs for building new facilities all over the world. If you look at all of the programs that the Watchtower Society funds, you'll see that the only thing they fund is the recruitment and control of their members under the guise of a 'Bible education program'.

It's interesting that they think it's important to follow Jesus' command to preach but beg off on taking care of the sick, the elderly and the orphaned.

Their actions have certainly spoken louder than their words. The Watchtower Society only cares about the survival of their cult.

I read this article and think it is loving, warm, and encouraging.

True Christians care about the elderly. Some specifics were given of how to encourage them. The article was geared to elderly in the congregation, of course.

Do some of y'all feel it is christian not to care for the elderly?

Genuine love is the sign of Christ's followers, isn't it?

Absolutely. Unfortuantely, the Watchtower will state the preacing work (Peddling the Society's literature) is the most important thing.

It is not a matter of there being some nice and sincere things do or are encouraged to do. The issue is many of the points and doctrine are just interpretation of scriptures by men no better than you and I.

JWs by and far take care of their own first and then others. Again, just like other religious organizations. When it comes to the elderly though, some may be helpful towards them, but many cannot be bothered. They're too busy making their meetings and field service that the Watchtower Society demands of them.

How true this comment is! There's just not enought physical time left for much of anything due to all the meetings, preparation for these meetings, f/s, preparation for f/s, etc.

Who is to blame for this? You guessed it - this man-made religion of JW's, particularly the GB - it's leaders! Some of these GB members are getting quite elderly themselves but they have in-house aids!

What about the widow or widower in the many local congregations???

Good to read that. But that kind of work is not exclusive to JWs. Many other religions can site similar works and even more than what the JWs perform.

The difference is for JWs they are always told the most important thing is their preaching work as defined by the Watchtower Society - not providing real help to people - but help in understanding the Watchtower's interpretation of the Bible, it's predictions for the future and to convert more people to become followers of the Watchtower Society's doctrines and beliefs.
