Watchtower Property Deals Falls Through

Levine Walks, Bossert Back in Play

Bossert-1008.jpg
At the eleventh hour, R.A.L. Companies has walked away from its contract to purchase the former Bossert Hotel from the Watchtower Group, a source familiar with the situation tells us. RAL, the development company headed by Robert Levine, had signed an agreement to purchase the 14-story former hotel at 98 Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights for $92 million back in the spring of this year with the intention of leasing it out as student housing; the deal reportedly had been scheduled to close by the end of last month. Our source says that financing had been difficult to come by; it's also possible that with sales at One Brooklyn Bridge Park not as far along as hoped Levine didn't want any more Brooklyn Heights exposure right now. Either way, expect the 224-unit property to start being shown again soon. Tough break for Watchtower: It's hard to imagine the building fetching anywhere near $92 million in this environment.

They own such expensive properties yet ask for donations. Every November or so they have an article in the Watchtower magazine regarding contributions. I am not saying that it is necessarily wrong to ask for contributions just that they seem to be a wealthy organization and never make much mention of their assets in the publications.

I would like to see an annual report that lists assets/profits/losses -all the financial accounting.

I have a lot of great memories from Bossert Roof parties.

I spent a night there as recently as 2005, in a guest room.

I was a cult member, then, of course.

Yeah - the view was great from that building!...until 90 Sands was built, now that building makes you feel like you're suspended over the Brooklyn Bridge.

If its Jehovah's will, they will sell it!.....or else its a sign that Armageddon is 'just around the corner'....again.

Why don't you all shut up and get a life. You have nothing better to do than slather over the doings of the WTBTS. GET A LIFE!

It is none of your business how much money they have and you will probably never find out.

So shut up.

But the Watchtower Society loves to talk about how Christendom has fleeced the flock! How is that their business?... Maybe they were just jealous.

I actually have a life now. But I am not going to shut up. Especially because you want me to. The washtowel society is always nagging about how the preachers are ripping off their followers. They are no different. Hypocritical turds is all they are.

you are the TURD.......and i can smell you all the way over here....yuck!

so shut up!

Another oft repeated and useless remark/reply from Ronde (VOR) is: "Why do we care."

First of all, don't include me in your "we".

I do care!

You have no real moral compass Ronde, that's why you don't care. You said that the whole pedophilia fiasco in JW's organization was the fault of the young victims and their parents. After that totally insentive statment, I can think of no one more unqualified to assess the value of these exposing issues found on this blog.

Ronde has used very poor judgment in his posts. His only purpose is to sabotage this web-blog - he's been caught lieing many times. One would wonder how he can reconcile lieing with being acceptable to God?

Mr. Lorenzo,

You are an idiot. When do the elders in a congragation rip off the congregation? Have you ever seen how the Bishops and the Cardinals live in the church? What about the TV evalgelizers with their luvury cars and diamond rings?

And you may "have a life" now, because you are still sucking air....but what kind of life is it when you don't follow Jehovah's standards? I can well imagine.

So shut up.

Oh Yeah Shawn....you are so right...the WBTS is soooooooo jealous of those other churchs. That is why they try so hard to be just like them in every way.

What a dumb comment!

"When do the elders in a congragation rip off the congregation?"

That is it. If anyone has complaints, they say this person or that person did that. But they do not find fault with the religion.

I agree that Lorenzo is a troublemaker but can't stick to facts.

Why would the WTBTS be jealous of churches?

The WTBTS is not a church.

Indeed. Which is why most of us left.

Why not use this money to help the elderly.

The leaders are so good at saying go and keep warm to the elderly, when what they need is some money to pay for heat! Goodness...
